Why use Sprayers?

The physical application of DAHLGREN DECON™ on contaminated environments is critical for the neutralisation of the identified hazards within the environment. By using applicators for decontamination operations, operators are able to effectively spray decontaminant over the contaminated area and in turn neutralise the hazard.

DAHLGREN DECON™ can be applied by many different application systems for hazard neutralisation. Depending on the type of applicator used during decon operations will determine the quantity of decontaminant used.

Are applicators important? Yes they are. It should also consider the quantity of DAHLGREN DECON™ to be utilised or consumed. The EPA in the USA have compiled a report on the efficacy and wastage of electrostatic sprayers verses traditional pump sprayers :

Sprayer types and Decon considerations.

The simplest applicator for DAHLGREN DECON™ is the pressure pack sprayer. This provides a simplicistic solution for the operator, and provides them with the ability to effectively cover the contaminated equipment and personnel with DAHLGREN DECON™ for decontamination operations. Depending on the volume pack used will dictate the quantity of decontaminant held and used for each operation. Like all spray packs, consideration must be made on the overspray and the spray lost to the environment during use. Pressure pack sprayers are the easiest and cheapest products to use.
Alternate to the pressure pack sprayer is the electrostatic sprayer for decontamination operations. As the decontaminant is discharged from the device, the sprayer adds an ionisied charge to the droplet that causes the droplet to be attracted to the item being decontaminated. This assists in an equal distribution of decontaminant being applied to the item of interest, as well as a huge reduction in overspray as a considerable amount of the product wants to attract to the closest object. This technology has a two fold effect 1. a greater surface area is decontaminated and 2. a reduction in the volume of decontaminate used when compared to pressure pack sprayers.

TACSPRAYER

The Tactical Sprayer is intuitive and easy to use with any liquid decontaminate, including DAHLGREN DECON™. This small pocket sized sprayer holds 650ml of decontaminant and cleaning solutions. Liquid decontaminates can be simply poured and mixed into the wide opening of the durable, thick plastic bottle. Minimal pumping is required to pressurize the sprayer in order for the Tactical Sprayer to work.
